We are pleased to share the newly published article “From European Standards to Responsible Use of AI in Clinical Practice” in the European Journal of Health Law.
In this open-access article, Roosmarie Jessen (Amsterdam UMC), together with Marieke A.R. Bak, Catelijne C.J. Muller, Helena M. Verkooijen, Kak Khee Yeung, and M. Corrette Ploem, explores the implications of the EU legal framework—particularly the AI Act—for the responsible use of AI in medical decision-making.
The authors take an important step in translating the EU regulatory framework into clinical practice by outlining five key responsibilities for physicians using AI in healthcare.
This is a valuable contribution that aligns closely with the goals of the Artillery Project: advancing trustworthy AI for the early detection of disease in women.
Artillery Project aims to develop, validate, and prospectively evaluate trustworthy AI systems for early detection of chronic disease risk (cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, lung disease) in women with breast cancer, using routine CT scans.
