ARTILLERY Project Presented at the UMBRELLA Research Day in Utrecht

On Friday, November 21st, UMC Utrecht hosted the annual UMBRELLA Research Day, highlighting current breast cancer research and several ongoing projects within the UMBRELLA cohort, including ARTILLERY. The morning programme featured presentations by HM (Lenny) Verkooijen, who provided an overview of the wide range of breast cancer research underway, with a focus on ARTILLERY and the use of AI. Sofie Gernaat presented her work on calcifications in breast cancer patients in relation to the ARTILLERY project, and Sharminii Jaya Prakason discussed the latest progress of the CarDI clinical trial. The goal of UMBRELLA is to learn from every patient with breast cancer, regardless of age, tumor characteristics, background, or overall condition. More than 8,100 women are currently participating, and some have already completed the 10-year follow-up. Umbrella provides a platform for various types of research: the development, validation, and evaluation of AI; the technical and clinical development of new treatments; randomized trials (within cohorts); surveys; and long-term (cohort) studies.
